| Personal Statement:I am currently a University of Arizona senior student. My passion is in the sciences. Thus, the major and minor I picked is Microbiology and Chemistry respectively. I am also learning Japanese and I'm enjoying learning more about the language everyday! I have experience tutoring from students from kindergarten through college students. My primary experience as a tutor as been through the university's peer level tutoring at U of A, as high school tutor for standardized test prep related to the ACT/SAT and AIMs and also as through a church affiliation on a volunteer basis mostly working with first time readers. I am pre-med and my future plans include targeting a 4-year medical school in Arizona.My tutoring style entirely depends on how my student learns. Each student has his/her own way of learning (auditory, visual and kinesthetic). At the moment, I meet my student, I begin to observe. What makes my student remember better? Does mnemonics work better in this case? Maybe my student learns better by standing up while explaining the problem to me? Or maybe he/she learns better by flashcard memorization. All of these techniques are that which I used for my students in the past. And before they know it, they don't need my help any longer as they already know what kind of learning "technique" is effective for each of their own. | |||
